Pure As the Driven Slush: Heather Corinna's Journal and Diary, Online since 1999
November 1st, 2006

Ah, timing. Always my pal.

In any event, while I’m in Philly here today, my buddy William is also finishing the switch of the journal to Wordpress, so you may see some bumps on the road, and some evidence of shifty, aha-there-oh-oops! workiness over the next day or so.

An aside? Non-smoking hotels without openable windows, and 18 floors between you and a cigarette, really blow chunks. And apparently, when some of us can’t indulge in our usual nervous habits like this, alternatives are found. The ACLU boardroom downstairs has a table on it that looks like what lobbyists trying to make public school lunches more healthy would trot out to scare parents: it is a sea of red vines, potato chips and every sort of sad little candy you can imagine. If you renew a membership to the ACLU anytime soon, you may want to include a note with your renewal that says you’d like your money to go towards feeding the lawyers. :)

Mark gets here tonight: any minute, actually. It’s a total blessing to be able to have him around for tomorrow, and to help me…erm, relax this evening, though I expect a few hours of grumpiness after the eight-hour travel hell I had to go through myself yesterday.

Once he’s in, we’ll all be off to a short dinner, then I have to ditch him for a handful of hours to go meet with all the lawyers, do my prep, and keep reminding myself that I really, really talk too much, and that doing it tomorrow isn’t just a problem per annoying people, it’s a problem per co-opting the job that isn’t mine to do. We shall see.

Thanks to the unexpected boon today of having the wordpress install finished, you’ll absolutely be hearing from me tomorrow, when this girl will be incredibly pleased to have one pile of Big Stuff totally off her plate.

Hi Heather :) I know, you must be getting sick of me by now!

I just wanted to say, though this really isn’t a comment about this entry, that I was looking through this site, and I love it. I particularly liked your journal entries about your Grandmother’s glasses and the one about sex being good for you. I sent the last one to my boyfriend, and he said something to the effect of “sex makes you live longer? Well, at this pace, we’ll be living long!”. We were both happy to read it. With regard to the one about the glasses, I can say I was very touched, and that I can relate. My grandfather never made me feel like he actually cared for me, and I disliked him for being so abusive to my father (despite my strong dislike for the latter). When he died, it was very awkward. It’s a long story. Suffice to say, I was very moved by that entry.

I also enjoyed your photos. My step father is a photographer, and I have now taken up photography as a hobby. To be honest, I don’t usually like pugs, but yours is so cute!! And has anyone ever told you that you remind them of/look like Tori Amos? Well, if no one has, someone has now :P

    Good job. You’re a great role model :) .

…um, are all the comments on previous entries gone or just somewhere not linked to at this time?
