My heart goes out to you.
Suffering tests and teases
into letting go; no other
choice unless you're
used to suffering.

Oh, stories of old cats getting ready or having gone to the Great Beyond always resonate with me. I am very much a cat person, even though I'm allergic to them too. We only had one pet when I was growing up, and it was the same cat, who lived to be 21 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/hallie_noir/4154226840/in/photostream). It was hard, watching her last days. By that time, I'd moved out, but I still lived in the same town as my parents. She was too tenacious to let go of her grip on life, but she really needed to go, as she was really suffering. All of us met at my parents' house, and our vet came there and put her to sleep as she lay on a pillow surrounded by all of us. Man, it was so sad, but it was so good that we could have that done at her home. Maybe a vet out there will do that for you, when the time comes. Hugs to you and your furry feline!
