One marvelously sunny day, Sofia and her faithful (and oh-so-Jackie
O) lady-in-waiting commanded their driver to take them to the
home of Sofia's reluctant friend Taxi, and his mistress, the Lady
Becca.
Though the journey was not without its challenges -- namely, the
highway underpasses which Sofia seems to think are going to swallow
her up entire -- both arrived safe and sound for their afternoon
engagement. |
| Taxi greeted her with...well, Taxi didn't really greet her. Taxi
tends to ignore her, which really isn't a bad thing for a dog
who could shleter five pugs beneath her with room to spare to
do. And Sofia seems to take no real offense. |
 |
 |
The lovely Lady Becca, showing off her pinkish glow (was it from
the sun or from the rum?), reminds Taxi that he is playing host
that afternoon, and tries to cajole him into paying his small
guest just a little more attention and host-erly behaviour. |
| And so, our dear Taxi visits his pugnacious lounger, as she monopolizes
the fluffiest seat on the deck. As a manner of ritual greeting,
Taxi made sure to knock over Sofia's water bowl several times,
and to drool appropriately on the chair whilst sneaking her treats. |

 |
However, Sofia was largely dissatisfied with the service that
day.
While her servants appeared to be graciously served too many drinks
for their own good, and gleefully munched on chips and salsa,
her order for beef shank and carrots frustratingly fell upon deaf
ears. |
How rude.
Sofia watched over her errant host, who -- appallingly -- did
not seem to realize, or perhaps couldn't have cared less, that
it is a great affront to guests to drop dead in the middle of
the floor while still entertaining. |
 |
 |
Never one to be rattled by the whims of others, Sofia decided
instead to amuse herself by chasing a rabbit, then gently -- ever
so gently -- toddling through the tomatoes, making sure to keep
watcha and chase any and all birds away (or give them heart condtions
in the attempt). |
| Alas, the sedate and lazy sunny afternoon life just isn't ideal
for such a busy princess, and so -- in quiet desparation -- Sofia
began to wave her silent tongue signals, in hopes they might beckon
her white knight for rescue. |
 |
 |
And lo! He appeared before her, answering her call with a call
of his own, and to make endings more blissful still, he came
bearing beer, which he was of course willing to share (as far
as she was concerned; what he thought about it was completely
irrelevant).
So, the day wasn't a complete bust, and she and her lady-in-waiting
snoozed graciously on the ride home, knowing that tomorrow would
hold more adventures still.
And hopefully better service. |
